In August 2010 a popular website devoted to a combination of design and hockey issued a challenge to create a brand for a fictional hockey team based out of Ohio. I decided to go the route of Pioneers, because Ohio has produced an unfair amount people who have gone on to be a part of aviation history firsts. As the primary logo, there is a portrait of Neil Armstrong, and the secondary logo is of the Wright brothers’ first airplane. The jersey design is meant to have a subtle arrow design, pointing up to the heavens, paying homage to the the journeys these men took. That arrow motif also found its way into the jersey numbering and sock design.
